Surf Camp Morocco — Everything You Need to Know

What is the best surf camp in Morocco?

The best surf camp in Morocco depends on your level. Imsouane is the best surf camp for beginners with its long, gentle waves and safe bay. Tamraght offers the best progression-focused surf coaching for intermediates. Taghazout is the best destination for advanced surfers seeking world-class point breaks like Anchor Point. All our surf camps include 8 days, accommodation, meals, equipment, and certified instructors for a complete Morocco surf experience.

When is the best time to surf in Morocco?

The best surf season in Morocco runs from October to April, when powerful North Atlantic swells produce waves from 1 to 4 metres. This is the high season for intermediate and advanced surfers. For beginners, May to September offers smaller, gentler waves and warm water temperatures — ideal conditions for learning to surf. Morocco benefits from over 300 sunny days per year, making it a year-round surf destination.

Which Moroccan surf camp is best for beginners?

Imsouane is widely considered the best surf camp in Morocco for beginners. The Bay at Imsouane features Africa's longest wave — a 700-metre right-hander that provides long, gentle rides perfect for first-time surfers. Our beginner camp includes 2 daily surf sessions with certified instructors, all equipment provided, and small groups of maximum 8 people for personalized attention at a price of €550 for 8 days all-inclusive.

Why choose Taghazout for surfing?

Taghazout is Morocco's most famous surf destination, known worldwide for its legendary point breaks including Anchor Point and Hash Point. With consistent year-round swells, warm weather, and a vibrant surf culture, Taghazout attracts advanced surfers from across Europe. Our Taghazout surf trip includes access to premium and secret spots, sunrise sessions, professional surf photography, and luxury riad accommodation — an authentic Moroccan surf experience at €750 for 8 days.

What is included in a surf camp package?

All our 8-day surf camp packages include: 7 nights accommodation (riad or surf house), daily breakfast and dinner, 2 surf sessions per day with certified local instructors, all surfing equipment (board and wetsuit), airport transfers from Agadir, small groups of maximum 8 people, and video coaching analysis (intermediate and advanced camps). Our all-inclusive approach means you focus on surfing — we handle everything else.

How much does a surf camp in Morocco cost?

Our 8-day all-inclusive surf camps in Morocco start from €550 per person. The Imsouane beginner camp costs €550, the Tamraght intermediate camp with video coaching costs €650, and the Taghazout advanced surf trip with premium spots costs €750. All packages include accommodation, meals, equipment, coaching, and airport transfers. Flights to Agadir are not included but we assist with travel planning.

How do I get to the surf camps from Europe?

Fly to Agadir–Al Massira Airport (AGA), which is approximately 45 minutes from Taghazout, 50 minutes from Tamraght, and 90 minutes from Imsouane. Direct flights are available from major European cities including Paris, London, Warsaw, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Brussels. Our airport transfer service is included in all surf camp packages.

Is Morocco safe for surf holidays?

Yes, Morocco is one of the safest destinations in Africa for European travellers. The surf regions around Agadir are particularly welcoming to tourists, with a long-established tourism infrastructure. Our surf camps are located in safe, well-connected villages. We provide 24/7 local support during your stay, and our team speaks English, French, and Polish.

What should I pack for a surf camp in Morocco?

Pack light cotton clothing for warm days, a hoodie or jacket for cooler evenings (October–April), swimwear, sunscreen (reef-safe recommended), sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, and comfortable sandals. We provide all surf equipment including boards and wetsuits. If you bring your own board, inform us in advance and we can arrange extra storage and transport.

Can I join a surf camp as a complete beginner?

Absolutely. Our Imsouane beginner camp is specifically designed for first-time surfers with zero experience. We start with ocean safety, surf theory on the beach, and basic techniques before entering the water. Certified instructors provide hands-on guidance throughout every session. Most beginners stand up on their board by day 2 or 3.

What is the water temperature in Morocco?

The Atlantic water temperature in Morocco ranges from 16–19 °C (61–66 °F) in winter (December–February) to 20–24 °C (68–75 °F) in summer (June–September). A 3/2mm wetsuit is recommended during the high season (October–April). In summer, many surfers are comfortable without a wetsuit. We provide wetsuits appropriate for the season as part of your equipment.

Do you offer surf camps for families or children?

Yes, families are welcome at our Imsouane beginner camp, which offers the safest, most sheltered waves for children and beginners. We can arrange private family surf sessions with dedicated instructors. Please contact us before booking to discuss your family's specific needs so we can tailor the experience. Children under 12 require adult supervision at all times.

What level of surfing do I need for each camp?

Imsouane Beginner: No experience required — designed for first-time surfers. Tamraght Intermediate: 1–3 years experience recommended. You should be comfortable paddling out and catching green (unbroken) waves. Taghazout Advanced: 3+ years experience required. You should be confident in head-high waves and have strong paddling fitness. All camps include instruction appropriate to your level.

Are there women-only surf groups available?

We welcome solo female travellers and can arrange women-only surf sessions upon request. Morocco is increasingly popular among female surf travellers, and our team creates a safe, respectful environment for everyone. Contact us to discuss women-only group arrangements or private sessions with a female instructor.

What is the food like at the surf camps?

Enjoy authentic Moroccan cuisine prepared fresh daily: traditional tagines, couscous, grilled fish, fresh salads, and seasonal fruits. Daily breakfast and dinner are included in all packages. We accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal — please inform us when booking. Meals are a social highlight of the camp experience, shared together on our rooftop terraces.

How do I pay and what is the cancellation policy?

We require a 30% deposit to confirm your booking, with the remaining balance due 30 days before arrival. Payment is accepted via bank transfer, Revolut, or Wise. Free cancellation with full refund up to 60 days before arrival. Between 60 and 30 days, the deposit is retained. Within 30 days, the full amount is non-refundable. We recommend travel insurance to cover unexpected cancellations.

Can I extend my surf camp or add extra days?

Yes, you can extend your stay at any of our surf camps. Many guests choose to stay longer once they experience the waves and atmosphere. Contact us before or during your camp and we will arrange additional days based on availability. Extended stays are charged at a pro-rated daily rate.

Do you offer surf and yoga packages?

We offer optional yoga sessions at our Tamraght and Imsouane camps, perfect for improving flexibility, balance, and recovery between surf sessions. Morning beach yoga is available on request. Contact us when booking to add yoga to your surf camp package. We can also recommend dedicated yoga retreats in the area for a combined surf and wellness holiday.
